- D68.61 is a billable/specific ICD-10-CM code that can be used to indicate a diagnosis for reimbursement purposes.
- The 2021 edition of ICD-10-CM D68.61 became effective on October 1, 2020.

Applicable To- Anticardiolipin syndrome
- Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome
Type 1 ExcludesType 1 Excludes Help
A type 1 excludes note is a pure excludes. It means "not coded here". A type 1 excludes note indicates that the code excluded should never be used at the same time as D68.61. A type 1 excludes note is for used for when two conditions cannot occur together, such as a congenital form versus an acquired form of the same condition.

Clinical Information
- A syndrome associated with a variety of diseases, notably systemic lupus erythematosus and other connective tissue diseases, thrombopenia, and arterial or venous thromboses, marked by the presence of antibodies directed against phospholipids.
- Associated with a variety of diseases, notably systemic lupus erythematosus and other connective tissue diseases, thrombopenia, and arterial or venous thromboses; involves the presence of antibodies directed against phospholipids; cardiolipins show markedly elevated levels of anticardiolipin antibodies; present also are high levels of lupus anticoagulant; in pregnancy it can cause abortion.
- The presence of antibodies directed against phospholipids (antibodies, antiphospholipid). The condition is associated with a variety of diseases, notably systemic lupus erythematosus and other connective tissue diseases, thrombopenia, and arterial or venous thromboses. In pregnancy it can cause abortion. Of the phospholipids, the cardiolipins show markedly elevated levels of anticardiolipin antibodies (antibodies, anticardiolipin). Present also are high levels of lupus anticoagulant (lupus coagulation inhibitor).
